Sherlock Holmes and WatsonA good portion of the past 8 years of my life has been spent exploring the bars, clubs, and varied nightlife of the Raleigh-Durham, NC area. In that time, I’ve seen a lot of places come and go, and some perennial mainstays that have remained almost unchanged. A wealth of knowledge, maybe, but how on Earth could I put that to good use?

Enter Examiner.com, a site that enlists local aficionados to infuse their own personal touch to news and notes about topics of local interest. A few weeks ago, I submitted an application to become Raleigh Bars & Clubs Examiner. After a grueling few days of impatiently refreshing my email inbox, I received an invitation from Examiner to become the newest contributor to their Raleigh local site.

So far, I’ve been writing for about a week now, and I’ve started some profiles of a few of my favorite Raleigh hangouts. I’ve also added a widget to this blog that shows previews and links to my recent posts. If you’re interested in keeping up with Raleigh’s bar scene, check it out. You can subscribe to updates via RSS and comment on any of the articles posted there if you think I’m right on target (or, more likely, I’m way off base).

Is there a Triangle establishment you’d like to see profiled or reviewed? If so, you can comment (either here or at my Examiner page) and let me know. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a new hangout in Raleigh, check it out – you might just find something you like!
